Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part I Review

Edward and Bella

First of all, “Imprinting” does not mean “peeing on”. Crucial bit of information there for those that haven’t read the books. But more on that later in the review.

Overview

I’m not allowed to like Twilight. And I’ve never read the books. So the fact I saw, and liked, Breaking Dawn should say a lot. In fact, I thought this one was the best of the three movies so far. It was intense, flowed well, and was able to make fun of itself.

Why are they in the river?

Why are they in the river?

However, there were several places where it seemed this movie was made more for fans of the book than for people who just watch the movies. Example: Imprinting. For a lot of the movie I was guessing what Imprinting was. I guessed (wrongly) that it was something the werewolf did to someone or something else. Specifically I thought it meant peeing. Since werewolves are dogs it made sense to me that they’d mark their territory by Imprinting on it. So yes, I thought Jacob peed on the baby.

Overall Grade: B-

But with vampire/werewolf fights, hot vampire chicks (and dudes), lovey-dovey relationship stuff, and blood-drinking babies, there’s something in this for everyone (both to like and be annoyed by). But overall, it’s ok to like it. It’s a cultural phenomenon whether you do or not.
